From Zero to (Tabletop) Hero: Building Tabletop Exercises for Human-Centered Defense
In this hands-on experience, you'll learn to design intelligence-driven tabletop exercises using the Hero's Journey storytelling format. We'll move from generic "bad thing happened, now what?" scenarios into compelling stories that meet your players where they are, and make incident response feel more achievable.
You'll walk away with:
• A draft tabletop scenario outline tailored to your organization
• Practical techniques for incorporating adversary tradecraft into your scenario, using tools like MITRE ATT&CK Navigator
• Facilitation tips grounded in group dynamics, for helping people do their best collaborative thinking under pressure
• A list of the publicly available threat reports I most often reach for during scenario design
No prior exercise experience required - just bring your organization's context and a willingness to think like an adversary.
